Dear Parent/Carer

There are more and more opportunities for children to enjoy seeing themselves or their work on display so we are writing to detail these for you and to ask you to notify us if you do not want your child’s picture to be seen in any of these situations.

Video

Parents are welcome to make videos of class assemblies, concerts and sports events provided there is no child in the event whose parents choose for them to not be in videos. These videos are acceptable to school provided they are only for home and family viewing.

Website

The school has a website where from time to time children’s work or their picture or name may be displayed. We do not put a child’s name with their picture. Either a picture, with no name or a name with no picture would be displayed.

Videos, web cams, photos etc

As part of the curriculum children are often photographed or filmed for use in learning situations and displays. These are only for use within the school.

School photographs

Twice a year a professional photographer takes individual or class photos of the children. These are sold to you.

Newspapers

Occasionally a newspaper photographer may photograph the children. Our policy is that either a name is given and no photograph is taken, or a photograph is taken but no name to go with it. Where both name and photo are requested we will seek parental permission.

Children benefit enormously from seeing their name or picture on display. It boosts their self-esteem and celebrates their efforts.

If you do not wish your child to be included in any of the above opportunities, or you do not want them to be videoed during a concert, assembly or other school event, by another parent, please fill in the attached form.

If you are happy for your child to have these opportunities available to them you do not need to reply.
