Burwell Achievement Trophy
In January 2001, Andy Henry was diagnosed with terminal
cancer. From the very day he was told about his illness, he never sat back and felt
sorry for himself, he decided that the last few months of his life were going to be the
best. He travelled to Bali, Borneo, Italy and Canada.
During the summer of 2001, he organised a charity scooter
ride from John o Groats to Lands End, to raise money for Children With Leukaemia.
They raised approximately £35,000.
On 16th October, Andy married Rebecca, whose parents
donated the trophy as a token of thanks, for the overwhelming care and support Bex
received from the staff and children of Burwell School. Andy died in October 2001.
This trophy is given to children as a recognition that
with perseverance, determination and support, they can achieve their goals.
