| INTRODUCTION
Burwell Village College ( Primary) currently has 424 pupils, aged 4-11. Teachers work closely with pupils, support staff, parents and governors to make an excellent team. There is a very caring, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, but at the same time we are committed to raising standards and want all pupils to achieve their full potential. A recent Ofsted Inspection had a very positive outcome. The College has very large grounds. As well as the school there is a Sports Hall, Swimming Pool, Public Library, Nursery, Community Room and Print Centre on the site. Pupils use the Pool and Sports Hall. We have an 18 PC computer suite, which is used by all classes in the school every week. These computers are linked to the classroom PCs. During the day and in the evening, community classes take place at the College. These are attended by local people of all ages. The environment of the College has recently been improved to include a conservation area, a "trim trail" and further shade from tree planting. This is in addition to the existing play and recreational facilities. There are a number of clubs to attend at lunchtime and after school. The "Friends" of the College provide a variety of social occasions for children and parents to enjoy. We also hold regular "Family Learning" events to encourage parents and pupils to learn together. The pupils at Burwell Village College (Primary) work hard and are very keen to learn. Teachers set targets with parents and children to make sure that everyone makes progress. Good work is rewarded in each class. These lead to a certificate from the head teacher. We hope you enjoy the pieces of work that are shown on this website. Teachers have chosen one piece of work from every class. Children play an important part in the running of the school. The School Council meets every half term to discuss improvements that the children would like to see. Pupils accept responsibility for a number of tasks in the school, including manning the office at lunchtime and supervising "Treats Day". Treats Day gives pupils the chance to play snooker and other games during lunchtime. When children leave BVC (Primary) they are able to choose between two very good secondary schools, Bottisham Village College and Soham Village College. There is a chance to visit these schools so parents and pupils can decide which to choose. We are always pleased to see a new face at our school. If you would like to visit or find out more, contact myself or Mrs Cater in the school office. Nicholas Smith (Headteacher) e-mail: office@burwellvillage.cambs.sch.uk
